“The Kings Trail” Step Challenge
The Recreation Division of the City of Lake Worth Beach would like to invite you to participate in our Virtual Recreation Health & Wellness individual & team Step Challenge.
The Kings Trail Miles (270) Steps (570,240)
The King's Trail (Kungsleden) in northern Sweden, is probably is one of the world’s most famous hiking trails. The trail is approximately 440 kilometers (270 miles) long, between Abisko in the north and Hemavan in the south and it passes through four national parks: Abisko, Stora Sjöfallet, Sarek and Pieljekaise.
We would like to encourage all our residents to participate in this challenge so that we can continue to promote wellness by challenging you, your friends, and family to walk more often during the day. Participants may use supported activity tracking devices to record the number of daily steps taken and transmit this number into the ChallengeRunner.com system. The totals of those steps are then compared against one another and a real-time leaderboard is made available.
Participants will be able to register using the link provided found on LWB's website and social media platforms. Once signed up, participants have the option to participate daily with either the Challengerunner website or Challengerunner mobile app.
Option 1: On the website, please navigate to your name in the right hand corner and select Profile. Participants will then need to confirm the Authorize link. Participants can choose from a list of 'step-trackers' and select the item they regularly use.
Option 2: On the app, participants need to log-in and navigate to Settings. Click on the Fitness Tracker option and Authorize your device.
Once the device is authorized, the user must ensure that they connect their device to the activity tracker's website at least once per day to sync data.
This challenge will run for 5 weeks. At the conclusion of 5 weeks, the top #1 individual and top 5 teams with the most recorded steps will be awarded a prize.
*An individual cannot win twice on a team and as an individual.
*Teams consist of 2 people. Both individuals must reach 570,240 before the team's finishing spot is determined.
