City of Lake Worth Beach
“Everglades Trek” Step Challenge
The Recreation Division of the City of Lake Worth Beach would like to invite you to participate in our Virtual Recreation Health & Wellness individual & team Step Challenge.
EVERGLADES TREK Miles (165) Steps (350,000)
Everglades National Park is only a one-hour drive from the hustle and bustle of Miami, but a world away. The park encompasses 1.5 million acres of tropical and subtropical habitat with one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems. The park has since been designated as an International Biosphere Reserve, a Wetland of International Importance and a World Heritage Site. Join us as we explore the everglades by going on daily treks that will culminate in the accrual of 165 miles and 350,000 steps.
We would like to encourage all our residents to participate in this challenge so that we can continue to promote wellness by challenging you, your friends, and family to walk more often during the day. Participants may use supported activity tracking devices to record the number of daily steps taken and transmit this number into the ChallengeRunner.com system. The totals of those steps are then compared against one another and a real-time leaderboard is made available.
Participants will be able to register using the link provided found on LWB's website and social media platforms. Once signed up, participants have the option to participate daily with either the Challengerunner website or Challengerunner mobile app.
Option 1: On the website, please navigate to your name in the right-hand corner and select Profile. Participants will then need to confirm the Authorize link. Participants can choose from a list of 'step-trackers' and select the item they regularly use.
Option 2: On the app, participants need to log-in and navigate to Settings. Click on the Fitness Tracker option and Authorize your device.
Once the device is authorized, the user must ensure that they connect their device to the activity tracker's website at least once per day to sync data.
This challenge will run for 5 weeks. At the conclusion of 5 weeks, the top #1 individual to reach the 350,000 steps first and top 5 teams with the best recorded daily team-average will be awarded prizes.
*Teams consist of 3 people.
*Each team daily step count will be the average of all 3 team members.
