The Walking Tournament will promote wellness by encouraging participants to walk more often during the day. A Walking Tournament is a single-elimination style tournament which consists of a series of one-week rounds beginning with the seed round. During the seed round, participants are ranked based on the number of steps entered into the system. At the end of the seed round the top 64, 32, 16, 8, or 4 participants move on to the next round where they compete head-to-head with the winner advancing to the next round. These rounds continue until a winner can be determined. In the event of a tie, the participant with the higher ranking will advance to the next round.
Participants may use a pedometer or other step tracker to record the number of daily steps taken and record this number into the ChallengeRunner.com system either through the website or by using the ChallengeRunner smartphone apps.
